Hello friends.
In 2006 I was included in the exhibition "The Uncertainty of Objects and Ideas" curated by Anne Ellegood at the Hirshhorn Museum. In my correspondence with Anne, I asked if I could perhaps put on display an object from the permanent collection. I have long had an interest in the objects stored by museums and in bringing some of the more forgotten ones back into public view. As it all turned out, Anne was interested in this idea too and developed it into the "collection in context" galleries that accompanied the exhibition. I was given a whole room to put work into and access to the complete collection. This opportunity was also given to two others in the exhibition, Rachel Harrison and Charles Long. This website is a record of the room I put together with the help of the museum staff. The complete checklist is here, images of some works, and a few installation images. Researching the collection and putting these works on display was a great pleasure. I am deeply grateful to the Hirshhorn for offering me this opportunity. -Evan Holloway |
